Qualified Programmes
Some workplace drug and alcohol testing services involve a higher level of responsibility.
These programmes go beyond awareness and basic testing and are designed for situations where people are being trusted with testing, decision-making, and risk management in the workplace.
Because of the legal, safety and professional responsibilities involved, access to our Qualified Programmes is intentionally restricted. This ensures standards are protected and testing is carried out properly, consistently and in line with the Better Testing approach.
Higher-Tier Consultancy Programmes
This service is for organisations where workplace drug and alcohol testing has become an ongoing operational issue, not just a compliance task.

Higher-tier consultancy provides structured, ongoing support to help you design, improve and run a testing programme that works day to day. This includes training, policy review, decision-making support and guidance for managers and HR teams when situations are complex.

Level 1 Drug Testing & Collection Training
Competent testing
Level 1 follows on from workplace collector training and is the first step into qualified practice.
It is designed for people who are already carrying out workplace drug and alcohol testing and now need to demonstrate competence, not just attendance on the course.

Learners must:
-
Provide evidence of conducting workplace drug and alcohol tests
-
Show correct sample collection procedures
-
Complete a structured assessment question bank

Level 2 Drug Testing & Collection Training
Confident handling
Level 2 builds on Level 1 and focuses on what happens before and after the test, not just the collection itself.
It is designed for people who need to handle concerns, conversations and follow-up appropriately.
Learners cover:
-
Identifying potential signs of impairment
-
Conducting initial meetings and conversations
-
Managing support and follow-up after a test
-
Practical demonstrations and assessed questions
Level 3 Drug Testing & Collection Training
Programme management
Level 3 is for people who manage or oversee workplace drug and alcohol testing programmes.
The focus is on running a compliant testing system, not carrying out tests day to day.
Learners cover:
-
Ordering and managing testing kits
-
Storage, stock control and expiry management
-
GDPR compliance and data handling
-
Liaison with laboratories and external providers

Progression Pathway
These programmes follow a clear progression:
Collector Training
→ Level 1 – Competent testing
→ Level 2 – Confident handling
→ Level 3 – Programme management
Each level reflects increased responsibility and organisational risk.
